NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide)

What Is NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide)?

NMN is a compound your body makes from vitamin B3, and it's one of the building blocks your cells use to make NAD+. NAD+ is a coenzyme every cell needs — it helps the mitochondria turn food into energy and keeps the cell's everyday repair work running. [1]

The catch is that NAD+ doesn't stay at the same level for life. Research shows it falls with age in the skin, blood, muscle, liver and brain — brain scans have found levels around 10 to 25% lower in older adults than in young adults. [1]

NMN is also found naturally in food, in small amounts:

  • Vegetables like cabbage, tomato, mushroom and soybean [1]
  • Fruits like orange, pear and cherry [1]
  • Seafood and meat like shrimp, scallops, salmon and beef [1]

These amounts are tiny, though — a normal diet likely gives you 2 mg of NMN a day or less, far below the 250 to 900 mg used in most human studies. That gap is why many people choose to supplement NMN to help support their body's NAD+ levels as the years go by. [1,8]
You might see it on a label as NMN, β-NMN, Beta-Nicotinamide Mononucleotide, or β-Nicotinamide Mononucleotide — they all mean the same compound. [1,2]

Why Choose D-Dukaan's NMN?

You'll find NMN in Scotmann's Sinclair NMN, available in two strengths so you can pick the one that suits you: a 250 mg capsule for a gentle, foundational start, and a 500 mg capsule for a more concentrated daily dose. It's made for adults 25 and older who want to support healthy ageing early, not as a quick fix but as a steady daily habit. [2,3]

The 500 mg capsule sits inside the 300 to 900 mg range tested in a 60-day trial of healthy adults aged 40 to 65, where all three doses raised blood NAD+ levels. In that study, 600 mg gave the strongest results and 900 mg added no further benefit — so one 500 mg capsule puts you close to the best-performing amount in a single, simple dose. [2,8]

Both strengths come in packs of 30 capsules, made with halal-certified ingredients to GMP standards, and carry DRAP, ISO 9001, TÜV Austria and PNAC marks. NMN is water-soluble, so it's simple to take — just swallow a capsule whole with water. [2,3]

Taking Scotmann's Sinclair NMN regularly may offer:

  • Support for your body's NAD+ levels — raising blood NAD+ is the most consistent finding in human NMN research. [1,8]
  • Support for cellular energy and longevity — NAD+ powers the energy and repair work inside every cell. [1,2]
  • Support for physical stamina — linked in research to better walking endurance and aerobic capacity. [5,8]
  • A dose backed by recognised manufacturing standards — GMP, DRAP, ISO 9001, TÜV Austria and PNAC. [2,3]

Uses & Benefits of NMN

Uses & Benefits Description
Supports cellular energy and NAD+ levels

In a 60-day trial of 80 healthy adults aged 40 to 65, blood NAD+ rose significantly at 30 and 60 days in every group taking NMN (300, 600 or 900 mg a day), while the placebo group saw no change. This is the most consistent result across NMN research. [1,8]

Supports physical stamina and walking distance

In the same trial, people taking 600 mg or 900 mg a day walked noticeably further in a six-minute walking test than when they started. [8]

Helps maintain biological age markers and quality of life

Using a blood-test–based measure of biological age, the placebo group's biological age rose over 60 days, while it held steady in all the NMN groups. Everyone taking NMN also reported better scores on a standard quality-of-life survey (SF-36). [8]

Supports aerobic capacity for active adults.

In a 6-week study of 48 amateur runners, those taking 600 mg or 1,200 mg of NMN a day alongside their training improved their aerobic capacity more than those on a placebo — most likely because their muscles used oxygen more efficiently. [5]

Promotes healthy muscle glucose uptake

In a 10-week trial, postmenopausal women with prediabetes who took 250 mg of NMN a day saw better insulin sensitivity in their muscles — meaning their muscles took up blood sugar more effectively — along with stronger activity in genes linked to muscle structure and remodelling. [4]

Supports lower-limb function in later life.

In a 12-week study of 108 adults aged 65 and over taking 250 mg a day, the group that took NMN in the evening showed the largest improvement in a chair-stand test of leg strength. Researchers see this as an encouraging early sign for staying active with age. [6]

Heart and metabolic markers: early research

In a 28-day study, overweight adults aged 45 and over taking a high 2,000 mg a day of a patented NMN form saw lower LDL cholesterol, a small drop in body weight and lower diastolic blood pressure compared with placebo. In a separate 12-week study at 250 mg a day, arterial stiffness tended to improve, though the difference from placebo wasn't statistically significant. A 2024 review of 8 trials found no consistent effect on blood sugar or blood fats overall, so this area still needs larger studies. [11,12,13]

NMN Dosage

NMN Dosage

There's no single official daily amount for NMN yet. Human studies have used anywhere from 100 mg to 2,000 mg a day, with 250 mg the most common amount tested. [1]

D-Dukaan's guidance for Scotmann's Sinclair NMN is one to two capsules a day, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner. That gives you a range of 250 mg to 1,000 mg a day depending on the strength you choose. In the 60-day dose trial, 600 mg a day gave the strongest results, and 900 mg did no better — so one 500 mg capsule is a well-placed everyday amount. [2,3,8]

When To Take NMN

Pick a time that fits your day, and stick to it — taking NMN at the same time each day makes it easy to build a habit. Swallow the capsule whole with water; unlike fat-soluble nutrients, NMN doesn't need a meal with fat to be absorbed. [2,3]

If you're an older adult, one study found that taking NMN in the evening (after 6 pm) gave slightly stronger results for leg strength than taking it in the morning — a small, early finding, but an easy one to try. [6]

Things To Know About NMN

NMN has been well tolerated in human studies so far. Single doses of up to 500 mg caused no problems in healthy men; 900 mg a day for 60 days was described as safe and well tolerated; and 1,250 mg a day for 4 weeks showed no safety concerns in blood tests, vital signs or body measurements. Even at 2,000 mg a day for 28 days, side effects were similar to placebo. [1,7,8,9,11]

Because NMN research is still fairly new, most studies have been short and small, and there's no official upper limit yet. That's why it's a good habit to stay within the label's one-to-two capsule range. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, managing a medical condition, or taking prescription medicine — especially for blood sugar — check with your doctor first so your NMN routine fits your existing care. [1,2,4]

Final Thoughts on NMN

NMN gives your cells one of the building blocks they need to make NAD+, a coenzyme that powers energy and repair and naturally declines with age. Human research is still early but encouraging, with consistent rises in blood NAD+ and promising results for stamina, aerobic capacity, muscle metabolism and mobility. Scotmann's Sinclair NMN makes it simple to add to your day, in a 250 mg or 500 mg capsule backed by recognised manufacturing standards. [1,2,3,8]
